inbetween books is a proudly independent, newly launched children’s publisher.
What began as an idea in 2020 was thoughtfully developed over the years, guided by the question: How can we be different? We officially launched in 2025, with our first titles releasing in 2026.
Driven by a passion to champion great books for readers and art lovers, our mission is to publish brilliant, innovative, and inspiring works for children. inbetween books is proud to work traditionally while also offering our authors a modest, non-recoupable advance—ensuring they are supported from the very start.
We create thoughtfully crafted picture books, middle grade, and young adult stories–celebrating both universal experiences and unique voices. Every book receives personal, hands-on care from concept to shelf, and we are dedicated to nurturing lasting relationships with our authors and illustrators. Our focus is on commercial and timeless, engaging stories that make kids feel seen and reading feel magical.
After years in publishing, our founder watched phenomenal and important books get passed over—stories that deserved to be in children’s hands but were overlooked by traditional channels.

Meet the Team
Andrea Walker, Publisher and Founder of inbetween books, is a former literary agent whose authors published with Beaming Books, Simon & Schuster, HarperCollins, and Scholastic. Drawing on this industry experience, Andrea launched inbetween books to give standout stories the close, hands-on care they deserve—championing fresh voices, heartfelt storytelling, and books that leave a lasting impact.
Elizabeth (Lisa) Hodgin, Operations and Logistics Manager, Lisa brings 30 years of logistics and operations experience to inbetween books. She is trained in MRP, SAP, and skilled in streamlining supply chains, managing high-volume fulfillment, and optimizing operational workflows. Lisa ensures every book reaches readers smoothly, on time, and with care.
